Frequently Asked Questions

What type of Bernedoodles will Aloe and Quill produce?

Medium (50-70lb) Multi-gen. Any Bernedoodle bred to another Bernedoodle is referred to as “multi-gen.” Our Bernedoodles are about 50/50 Bernese/Poodle. Bernedoodles have a great temperament, great coats and are wonderful family pets. Breeding them to each other reinforces these traits.

What type of coats will the puppies have?

We expect 25% of the puppies to be unfurnished and 75% furnished.

Furnished

A Bernedoodle with a furnished coat has long hair on its face, head, tail, and extremities. This gives the dog a fluffy, traditional doodle appearance. Furnished Bernedoodles tend to shed less than other dogs, but they require regular grooming to prevent matting. They may also trigger fewer allergies than other dogs because their hair carries less dander and allergy-causing proteins.

Unfurnished

A Bernedoodle with an unfurnished coat has no long facial hair or beard. This gives the dog a look similar to a Bernese mountain dog. Unfurnished Bernedoodles may shed lightly, but they require less maintenance than furnished Bernedoodles. They don't have to be shaved or a thick coat to keep up. Unfurnished Bernedoodles may also hold their color better, especially red.

Are Bernedoodles hypoallergenic?

No dog is “hypoallergenic” and no reputable breeder will use such a term. There are absolutely allergy friendly breeds and yes, we breed low to non shedding, very allergy friendly Bernedoodles.

Do bernedoodles shed?

Every Bernedoodle has a different coat and every dog with hair will shed, but the wavy or curly type of coat that a Bernedoodle has is a low-to non-shedding.

Will the puppy have Vaccinations and Deworming before coming home?

The puppies are typically de-wormed 3 times before they go home (e.g. at 3, 5, 7 weeks) and have their vet health check up around 6-7 weeks. Per our Veterinarian’s recommendations, the puppies should be given their first set of vaccinations at week 8. Because of this we recommend that once you pay the deposit you should make an appointment with your vet within 3 days of picking up your puppy. The next set of shots will be due around 4 weeks from then. That usually falls at around 12 weeks. It is important to keep your puppy on schedule for their puppy vaccinations. Your vet can discuss the best plan at your first vet appointment when the puppy goes home.

Do the puppies come with spay and neuter contracts?

Every Anchorage Bernedoodle puppy is on a strict spay/neuter agreement where they must be altered by 12-24 months of age. If you do not agree with this- we suggest you purchase a puppy elsewhere. We require documentation/proof of this from your Veterinarian. Spay/Neuter/sterilization is NOT an option, but a requirement per signed contract. Breeding rights are not offered and legal action will be taken in the event our contract is breached.

When are final payments due?

Final payments (including any delivery costs) are due 10 days before the puppies are ready to go home at eight weeks.  If we have not received the final amount by this date your puppy pick and spot on the list will be forfeited and available to another family. The puppy is considered yours once the deposit and final payment is received. The final payments can be made via check, cash or zelle. Checks must clear 10 days before we release the puppy to your care so they are due two weeks before the puppies are 8 weeks old.

How do we get our puppy?

We highly encourage you to pick up your puppy in person as we get really excited to meet our puppy’s families and officially welcome you to the Anchorage Bernadoodle family. We can schedule a convenient time for you to come and pick up the pup. We also understand that this is not possible for all of our families that live farther away. We have several options depending on the travel distance. We are happy to discuss delivery around Alaska via driving or flying.

I live out of state, how can I pick up my puppy?

  1. Flight Nanny: Our Flight nanny personally carries your puppy from the Anchorage airport to the closest major airport near you. The price is typically $600 - $1000+ and the nanny carries the puppy with her in a breathable, soft travel carrier in cabin with her, the whole time. The puppy has treats, a chance to go the bathroom along the way and lots of love and snuggles from her as they travel.

  2. Airport Pickup: The other option is that we can meet you at the Anchorage airport with your puppy and if you need the take home package we will provide the carrier which will have everything ready for your puppy to fly home for $50. We do not include this option with Delta due to their 10 week old puppy policy.
